Architect, specifier,
programmer, facilitator, and educator, Michael Chambers FAIA FCSI has 30
years experience in education, health care, government, and sports
architecture. Using his broad experience in working closely with clients in
pre-design, materials selection, program analysis, post occupancy
evaluation, and marketing strategies, Michael offers a diverse perspective
on critical design and construction issues both as a technical architect and
as an educator. As a national developer and presenter of professional
continuing education programs stemming from his experience writing
specifications for billion dollar health care projects, sports venues,
education facilities, and overseas projects, Michael uses his experience as
a technical team member to show designer how to use specifications and
technical analysis processes to perfect and protect their design intent.
Michael is an architectural graduate of the University of Southern California, registered architect in California and Minnesota, and a Certified Construction Specifier. He is a Fellow of AIA and CSI, is a past Chair of the national AIA/CES Providers Council, and currently serves as Vice-president of the Specification Consultants in Independent Practice (SCIP).
As an architect and specifier, Michael develops and presents a wide range of continuing education programs for design professionals, especially on the use of specifications in enforcing design intent and using Division 1 to protect design concepts from substitutions and quality assurance failures.
As a product representative, Michael consults with product manufacturers on how to be more effective marketing to design professionals using continuing education, guide specifications, and design guidelines. He is a past chair of the AIA/CES National Providers Council and has presented at several AIA/CES Provider Conferences.
Michael is principal of MCA Specifications, Construction Product Marketing Group of San Francisco, CA. MCA designs, develops, and produces guide specifications, technical data sheets, AIA/CES Continuing Education programs, and design guidelines for construction product manufacturers and design professionals. MCA provides preliminary document, education program, and web site reviews to help manufacturers be more strategic with their critical marketing tools.
